Darshan Ruparelia is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK) with over 15 years of experience in advising public and private sector employee benefits’ schemes. Darshan relocated to Kenya from the UK in 2013 to set up the new actuarial consultancy, RCL.
Darshan advises both trustees and sponsors of employee benefits’ schemes in the areas of scheme funding, scheme design, investment strategy, accounting valuation, risk benefits, cashflow modelling and projections, actuarial factors and member communications. He also advises both life and general (re)insurance companies in the areas of pricing, reserving, quarterly and annual liability valuations, reinsurance arrangements, asset-liability modelling and preparation of Financial Condition Reports.
Darshan is also a Fellow of the The Actuarial Society of Kenya (TASK).
Mark Stephenson FIA
Consulting Actuary
Mark Stephenson is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK). Mark has spent his whole career working in the retirement solutions sector as an actuary, consultant and now business leader. He has a strong track record and a wealth of experience working with trustees and scheme sponsors in a wide range of areas including the UK’s state and private sector regulatory framework, scheme funding, strategy, scheme governance, risk management and member communications.
Mark plays an active role in the UK’s Pension Awareness campaign, an annual event that seeks to raise the understanding and awareness of social security and private sector pension provision amongst the general public.
Andrew Slater FIA
Investment Actuary
Andrew Slater is a Fellow and Council member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and a CFA Charterholder. He has over 25 years’ experience in both consultancy and asset management advising institutional investors around the world on actuarial and investment matters.
Since 2014 Andrew has focused exclusively on working with African institutional investors. He has performed multiple projects with the African Development Bank and the World Bank. Most recently he was commissioned to conduct research with Kenyan pension schemes relating to their investment decision making.
Andrew is alumnus of Cambridge University with a first-class undergraduate MA in mathematics and postgraduate MMath in theoretical physics. He is also an alumnus of London Business School (executive education courses) and has guest-lectured at Cass Business School, London.
Yusuf Kudrati

Yusuf Kudrati is a statistician with an in-depth knowledge of performing data analyses and data modelling of varying degrees of complexities. Working alongside RCL’s Consultancy Team, Yusuf designs, develops and manages internal valuation systems and models used in performing actuarial valuations, financial modelling and risk management projects. He also heads the data validation and analysis arm of valuation work. In addition to his technical role, Yusuf also manages RCL’s Operations and Compliance portfolio. Yusuf is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Canada) with a specialization in Mathematics and Statistics.
Yusuf is highly proficient in Microsoft Visual Basics (programming language for MS Office), R Statistical & Programming Language and Alteryx, a data analytics software.
Andrew Kyalo
Manager, Business Development
Andrew Kyalo heads RCL’s business development and marketing strategies. He has a wealth of experience in the financial sector having worked in the banking industry for over 10 years. Andrew is the prospective client’s first point of contact with RCL as he introduces our consultancy, attentively listens to the client’s needs, guides them through the services we offer, and works with the RCL Consultancy Team to recommend a customized approach to the client’s business requirements. Andrew is a graduate of Kenyatta University with a BCom. (Hons) in Marketing.
